Suma is also known as "Brazilian Ginseng" due to its popularity within the large Japanese community in Brazil. Although it is not a member of the ginseng botanical family. It appears to offer some of the same properties.
Suma contains a unique group of compounds called pfaffosides that are the subject of research in Japan. Suma also contains the natural organic form of germanium, which is thought to have anti-oxidant properties. Nature's Way uses only properly matured Suma root from Brazil.
