Description  more details

DHEA is a steroid hormone that has attracted medical attention in recent years.

DHEA is produced in the body by the adrenal glands and is necessary for proper health. DHEA has been tested with good results in treating Adrenal Insufficiency, Depression, Obesity, and Systemic lupus erythematosus. It is also being tested for use in health problems including Alzheimer's, Cardiovascular disease, Cervical Cancer, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Cocaine Withdrawal, Menopausal disorders, Infertility and more.

As we age, there's a steady decline in DHEA production, making health supplements of DHEA useful for good health. At all ages, men tend to have higher DHEA levels than women.

DHEA is a steroid hormone produced in the body by the adrenal glands. Hormones are small powerful molecules that influence every cell in the body and are necessary for proper health and even life itself. Health disorders can occur when the ratio of hormones becomes out of balance. Therapeutic use has proven hormones to be among the most effective biological agents in treating an endless number of adversities in the body.

Dehydroepiandrosterone, or DHEA, is a steroid hormone, a chemical cousin of testosterone and estrogen. It is made from cholesterol by the adrenal glands, which sit atop each kidney. For the first few years of life, the adrenals make very little DHEA. Around age six or seven, they begin churning it out. Production peaks in the mid-20s, when DHEA is the most abundant hormone in circulation. From one's early '30s on, there's a steady decline in DHEA production, so the average 75-year-old has only 20% of the DHEA in circulation that he or she had 50 years earlier. At all ages, men tend to have higher DHEA levels than women.
